Mark Yancey
Vice President of Project Development

Mark has 30 years of experience in the fields of renewable energy and environmental engineering including extensive experience in project development and economic analysis for first and second generation biofuels facilities. Mark’s expertise is in the development of renewable energy projects including development of business strategies and financial, market and technical analyses of projects and renewable energy opportunities. Mark has excellent management skills and his strengths include business development, project planning, financial analysis, and project development in addition to his excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Mark has presented at well over 100 conferences and workshops worldwide during his tenure at BBI International and NREL. He is a recognized expert in the development of biofuels projects.



Kyle Althoff
Senior Analyst

For more than 15 years, Mr. Kyle Althoff has been delivering financial, operational, and strategic solutions to clients in the agribusiness, food and energy industries. He has extensive experience analyzing the economic impacts of alternative forms of state legislation to support biofuel consumption and has created multiple compressive assessments of renewable energy resources for legislative mandates. He also developed and managed successful feedstock strategy projects for commercializing technology to convert biomass into cellulosic ethanol.

Althoff has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Food Business Management from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Science in Agricultural Economics for Purdue University.



Jeff Kistner
Senior Financial Specialist

Jeff Kistner provides CFO services to agribusiness and renewable energy companies. His services include: forecasting operational performance and financials, enhancing cash flow, liquidity requirements, capital structures, and increased equity valuations. Kistner understands there are many different solutions designed to help companies achieve success. This knowledge is from working in the industry as a lender for 19 years and as an industry consultant for five. Jeff’s expertise is in the collection, monitoring and analyzing information for best business practices.

Kistner was raised on a family farm in southeast Nebraska and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska. In 1991 he earned his MBA in Finance from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. Kistner has 19 years of banking experience and he concluded his banking career at CoBank, one of the largest lenders to the agribusiness and renewable energy industry in the US. He then worked 4 years at BBI International focusing on project development and management of ethanol projects in the US and internationally. At BBI, he had a strong influence in business economics, equity valuations and capital structures from early stage to operating renewable energy companies.



Art Wiselogel
Senior Project Manager

Art Wiselogel has over 30 years of experience in project management, personnel management, and as a scientist in environmental sustainability, and renewable energy and fuels. Formerly a BBI International Project Manager, Art worked closely with renewable project principals to plan, develop and oversee the implementation of business plans under the guidance of the Client’s Project Board or Steering Committee. Art also served as Project Manager for Integrated Resource Technologies Inc. on their largest contract with the US Department of Energy’s Golden Field Office. Art has also worked as a project coordinator and geneticist at the University of Georgia, Texas A&M University, and Texas Forest Service.

Art has a Doctorate from Texas A&M University where he studied genetics and plant breeding, a Masters of Science degree in Agriculture from Oklahoma State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Science from Mississippi State University.



Ed Stahl
Senior Project Manager

Ed Stahl has over 30 years of experience in project management, new project development, business development, marketing and strategic planning. For the last 15 years Ed’s work has been exclusively devoted to renewables/cleantech, providing comprehensive, consultative support for new technology and new project start-ups, including corporate governance, tech evaluation, funding and commercialization strategies, and budget and operations planning. His hands-on involvement has resulted in technology insights into ethanol and biodiesel from multiple platforms and feedstocks, algae, duckweed, sweet sorghum , on-demand hydrogen and much more. As a BBI Senior Project Manager, Ed works closely with our clients to achieve project goals. Ed has successfully completed the development of three ethanol projects for BBI clients totaling more than 210 million gallons per year of capacity and costing over $325 million. Stahl attended the University of North Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.



Jordan Solomon
CEO at Ecostrat

For over 10 years, Jordan has overseen the creation and development of the largest biofuel supply database in North America. This position has given him unique insights into and overview of the wood biofuel supply situation in North America. In 2004 Jordan negotiated the agreement with the Turkish Ministry of Quarantine and Control which opened up the Turkish composite board industry to wood chip imports; which lead to Ecostrat shipping the first shipload of chips to Turkey. In 2010 Jordan devised the formula and oversaw the launch of the Biomass Credit Wrap® a new instrument backed by investment grade credit designed to de-risk long-term woodfuel supply. His areas of expertise include corporate strategy, biofuel project modeling, sourcing and commercializing new biofuel projects, implementation and logistics for biofuel export and team support.

Solomon has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and an Masters in Environmental Studies and Corporate Environmental Strategy from York University.



Joe Bryan
CEO

Joe Bryan is CEO of BBI International. Joe joined BBI in 1999 as Associate Editor of the The Energy Independent, now known as Ethanol Producer Magazine. For more than 10 years, Joe has dedicated his life to the bioenergy publishing arena. In 2001, Joe became Vice President of the BBI International Media Group. Joe is responsible for the day-to-day operations and the overall success of each publication. Joe has been an integral part of BBI International's domestic biofuels publications.



John Nelson
Associate and Director of Marketing

John Nelson is the Director of Marketing at BBI International. He is responsible for supporting company-wide marketing and communication activities and assists the sales team in generating new leads and business development. During the last 15 years, Mr. Nelson has helped thousands of businesses in the North America, South America and the UK grow as Director of Marketing for a business coaching franchise, based in Denver, CO called The Alternative Board. In addition, he has assisted large companies such as Subway Restaurants and Case IH Machinery expand their customer base using traditional and non-traditional marketing strategies and lead generation tactics.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Dakota.



Kolby Hoagland
Associate and Data Manager

Mr. Hoagland serves as Program and Data Manager for BBI International in the content planning division of the company. Kolby’s two roles for BBI are to assist in the development of conference agendas and manage BBI’s data on biodiesel, ethanol, pellets and biomass power plants. BBI publishes its plant data in the form of maps in its trade magazines. His specific interests and expertise are in energy analysis, energy policy, and multifunctional landscapes. The mission in Kolby’s career is to facilitate proactive dialogue among stakeholders to advance bioenergy down economically sustainable and environmentally prudent paths by promoting innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Hoagland has earned a B.A. from The Evergreen State College and an M.S. in Agriculture Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.



Ron Kotrba
Editor of Biodiesel Magazine

Ron Kotrba is Editor of Biodiesel Magazine, published by BBI International and based out of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Before becoming editor of Biodiesel Magazine, Kotrba was senior writer for all of BBI International’s publications, writing for the company since January 2005. Prior to that, Kotrba was an advanced engineering laboratory technician for an OEM exhaust supplier and was involved in developmental work on diesel aftertreatment systems such as diesel particulate filters, urea SCR and lean NOx traps. Kotrba earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
